Harlem, NY. Communal living House
I lived with ten other people.
A group of photographs document how the rooming house in which I lived subjected me to both an unrelenting solitary existence as well as an unrelenting communal one, magnifying the effect of each.
“My Room” depicts a space incapable of admitting anyone else. Each image of the “Hair” sequence is a composite portrait of all of my housemates (their hair) and the ability of our connectedness.
